PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Five Harvard players tallied goals, including Yoshi Andersen who led the pack with five, but the Harvard women's water polo team dropped a, 13-9, decision at Brown Wednesday night. The Crimson falls to 1-1 in conference play.
Harvard jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first eight minutes behind two goals from Yoshi Andersen and Alexis Del Toro, before Brown outscored the Crimson in the second stanza to take a two-goal lead heading into intermission.
Harvard came out strong in the third frame as Melissa Balding, Jelena Cyr and Andersen each found the back of the net once, but Brown held on to its lead as the Bears buried four goals. Brown secured the win with a four-goal effort in the last eight minutes. Shayna Price scored the lone tally for Harvard in the final stanza.
Andersen netted five goals to pace the Crimson offense while Price, Cyr, Balding and Del Toro each found the back of the net once. Victoria Frager dished out two assists.
Defensively, Price registered three steals and Ariel Dukes made five stop for the Crimson.
Harvard is back in action April 5-6 with a trip to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on Bucknell, Princeton and Mercyhurst.
