Women's Water Polo Falls to No. 16 UC Santa Barbara, 12-9, to Conclude California Trip

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The women's water polo team tried to mount a second half rally, but it wasn't enough, as the Crimson fell to No. 16 UC Santa Barbara, 12-9. Harvard falls to 11-13 on the season.
Santa Barbara netted the first two goals of the game to an early lead before the Crimson exploded for four goals in the second frame.
Trailing by the three, Harvard opened the second half with energy, outscoring the Gauchos, 3-1, to bring the Crimson within one.
Santa Barbara cut the Crimson's rally short in the fourth stanza as the Gauchos tacked on four more goals to secure the win.
Yoshi Andersen headlined the Crimson offense with three goals, while Alexis Del Toro and Shayna Price each tallied two scores. Rachel Lobato and Melissa Martinelli found the back of the net once to round of the scorers.
Price registered three steals and Ariel Dukes finished the game with two steals and five saves in the net.
Harvard will step into CWPA play with a trip to Washington, D.C., to take on George Washington Saturday, March 29. The game is slated for noon.
