Senior Day Caps Home Schedule for Women’s Water Polo

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's
water polo team hosts Hartwick Tuesday at 7 p.m. during the team's
Senior Day. Seniors Lizzie

Zdrojewski will be honored in a ceremony before the
contest.
The Class of 2012
The seniors have compiled a 53-55 record thus far at Harvard,
including a 17-15 mark last season, the program's first season over
.500 in six years. This year's Crimson is poised to finish with
another winning record for the team's first back-to-back winning
seasons since 2004 and 2005.
Harvard
The Crimson (12-9, 4-1 CWPA Southern Division) has won three
straight games to clinch the No. 2 seed at the CWPA Southern
Division Championship. Harvard has taken down division foes Brown,
7-5, Mercyhurst, 10-4, and George Washington, 18-12, during its
current three-game streak and also owns a division win over
Bucknell, 13-8, this season. In Harvard's last game, the Crimson
scored 18 goals, its biggest offensive outburst of the season, to
top George Washington. The Crimson used a balance scoring attack in
the game, as four players netted hat tricks. Aisha
Price, Lizzie Abbott and Devan Kennifer each scored
four times and Shannon Purcell added three goals.
Hartwick
The Hawks (23-9, 3-3 CWPA Western Division) have won four of its
last five and sits in fourth place of the CWPA Western Division.
Four players lead Hartwick with 40 or more goals this season
including Lisa Bass (49), Sasha Freeborn (48), Jemma Dendy Young
(45) and Kamila Zakirova (42). Hayley Cox has started 20 games in
goal, while allowing 9.82 goals per game.
Series History
Hartwick leads the all-time series against Harvard, 27-1. The
Crimson won the first meeting between the two schools, 7-5, in
2001, but the Hawks have rattled off 27 straight victories
since.
Up Next
Harvard will play in the 'B' bracket at the CWPA Southern
Division Championship where it will take on Mercyhurst and Brown
April 14. The winner of the 'B' bracket will face the winner of the
'A' bracket in the Southern Division title game April 15.
