BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Junior co-captain Devan Kennifer was named Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday after grabbing seven steals in three games over the weekend. She also notched eight goals and dished three assists in leading Harvard to a 1-2 weekend at Bucknell.
Saturday Kennifer posted four scores, two assists and five takeaways in the Crimson's split of two games against Princeton and Bucknell. In a 16-13 win over the host Bison, Kennifer had three tallies and four steals to lead Harvard to the victory.
Sunday against the sixth-ranked Wolverines, Kennifer had perhaps her best day of the weekend, scoring four times and grabbing two steals to keep the game close. Harvard would eventually fall, 13-10. Her seven steals on the weekend brought her season total to 70, while the eight goals puts her at 61 scores on the year.
The CWPA Defensive Player of the Week nod is Harvard's second in a row after freshman Shayna Price received the honors April 5.
