Women's Water Polo Bows to Bucknell; Settles for Sixth at ECAC Championships

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Harvard women's water polo team lost to Bucknell, 9-7, in the fifth-place match at the ECAC Championships. With the loss, the Crimson falls to 7-3 and claims sixth-place at the tournament.
Sophomore Monica Zdrojewski led Harvard's offensive attack with a hat trick while classmate Ita Barton-Kettleborough buried a pair of markers in the contest. Lizzie Abbott and Elise Molnar chipped in with a goal each. Sophomore netminder Laurel McCarthy made four saves on the day. The Crimson recorded 32 shots in the match and also capitalized on all three of its 6-on-5 opportunities.
Next up on the schedule is Maryland, as the Crimson and Terrapins will square off at the Elite Eight Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., March 6.
