Women's Water Polo 2010 Schedule Announced

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Harvard women’s
water polo team will kick off the 2010 season Feb. 6 as it hosts
the Harvard Invitational. The Crimson will face Villanova and the
New York Athletic Club on the first day of competition. On the
second day, the hosts will go up against Siena and Iona. Harvard
will partake in the Princeton Invitational Feb. 20-21 and will
await the announcement of the team’s opposition.
The Crimson, which earned a seven-seed, will face the
second–seeded Marist in the first round of the ECAC
Championships, Feb. 27, in Princeton, N.J. Harvard will compete
Feb. 28 in the second day of competition at the ECAC Championships.
The opponent and significance of the game will depend on the
outcome of the match with Marist. The Crimson will participate in
the Elite 8 Invitational to be held March 6-7 in Bloomington, Ind.
The team will play games against three of the seven other entrants:
Brown, Bucknell, Hartwick, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan and
Princeton.
Harvard makes a west coast swing to play three games. The Crimson
will square off against UC Davis, Mar. 15, Cal St. Monterey Bay and
Pacific, Mar. 20. Harvard will travel to meet Marist for the second
time on the season, Mar. 27, and will host Brown, Apr. 7, at
Blodgett Pool. The Crimson will face Hartwick in consecutive games,
at Hartwick Apr. 10 and at home Apr. 17. Harvard will meet Brown in
Norton, Mass. for an away match, Apr. 18, before preparing to
compete at the Eastern Championships, Apr. 30-May 2, to close out
the season.
