Harvard Earns 10 Selections to CWPA Women’s Scholar-Athlete Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) has announced that 10 Harvard women's water polo players have been named to the 2009 CWPA Scholar-Athlete team. 


As a squad, Harvard earned the 2009 Women's Varsity All-Academic Team Award, as the Crimson posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.39.  Harvard's team grade-point average was also the highest in the country.


Senior Nicola Perlman, juniors Kristina Bergquist and Kelly Peeler, sophomores Shami Entenman, Patricia Smith and Natasha Whitney and freshmen Lizzie Abbott, Ita Barton-Kettleborough, Devan Kennifer and Monica Zdrojewski were all recognized for their academic performances with spots on the team. 


The scholar-athlete team is comprised of all varsity and club student-athletes who competed during the spring season and have accumulated a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade-point average during their academic careers.


Student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.2 to 3.4 (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.7 (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding).
