Harvard kicks off its 2011 schedule at the Georgia State
Invitational (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Eleven home matches await the Harvard women’s volleyball team this upcoming season as the university announced the team’s 2011 schedule Friday. The Crimson will once again host the Harvard Invitational to kick start its home schedule.
“We are excited about the 2011 schedule,” said head coach Jennifer Weiss. “Our preseason and month before Ivy play will be challenging and essential to prepare for competition.”
Harvard starts its 2011 campaign at the Georgia State Invitational, where it will face the College of Charleston, Jacksonville State and host Georgia State. A week later, the Crimson will battle Holy Cross and Bryant at the Bryant Invitational, before welcoming New Hampshire to the Malkin Athletic Center Sept. 13 for its home opener.
The Harvard Invitational begins for the Crimson Sept. 16 with a night match against Holy Cross, and continues with two matches the following day against Northeastern and Navy. Harvard’s Ivy League opener against Dartmouth completes a five-match homestand Sept. 23.
A tough stretch of conference matches follows as the Crimson travels to Princeton, Penn, Brown and Yale before returning home to face Cornell and Columbia Oct. 14-15. A road match against Dartmouth is slated for Oct. 22, and a pair of home contests against Penn and Princeton will take place a week later. November begins with away contests at Columbia and Cornell, and the schedule comes to a close with matches against Yale and Brown at home Nov. 11-12.
“The senior class is ready to lead the team and get ready for Ivy competition. We have an opportunity to compete out of region, and we will take advantage of this chance to prepare for Ivy play.”
