Shannon Farrell Joins Women's Volleyball Staff
Harvard Head Coach Jennifer Weiss announced the addition of Shannon Farrell to her coaching staff. Farrell, a 2007 Yale graduate, is no stranger to the Ivy League or access in the Ancient Eight.
"I am excited to have Shannon join our staff," Weiss said. "She has always been a model student-athlete in the Ivy League and had a fabulous career at Yale. I feel fortunate to have her on staff and I know that our women will benefit from having her on the sideline. Shannon is competitive and knowledgeable when it comes to volleyball and she is excited to give back to her sport."
Farrell was a three-time first-team All-Ivy League selection as a Bulldog. She earned unanimous first-team honors as a senior. She helped her team to the 2004 Ivy League title and the second round of the NCAA Championship. In 2005, she was an honorable mention All-Northeast Regional selection and was named CVU.com Stellar Spiker honorable mention.
She also played internationally on the European Exposure Tour in 2007, making stops in Czech Republic, Slovenia and Austria.
Farrell served as a head coach for the NYC Juniors Volleyball Club program from 2008 to 2009, where she planned and led two practices per week designed to encourage the fundamental development of athletes at a beginner level. Her team, 13 Orange, participated in local and national level tournaments.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, Farrell worked for Alice Marshall Public Relations as a account manager. She was responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive public relations strategies on behalf of domestic and international luxury hospitality clients.
