Hideko Tachibana won both of her matches Saturday afternoon to close out her career (OAC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior co-captains Hideko Tachibana and Kristin Norton closed out their Harvard women's tennis careers with a pair of victories Saturday afternoon to help the Crimson top Dartmouth, 6-1, in Ivy League play at the Beren Tennis Center.
Tachibana paired with Amanda Lin at No. 1 doubles to upend Katherine Yau and Akiko Okuda, 8-2, while Norton partnered with Sylvia Li to defeat Sarah Bessen and Melissa Matsuoka, 8-4, and secure the doubles point. In singles action, Tachibana topped Yau again, 6-2, 6-2, and Norton got the better of Matsuoka, 7-5, 6-2. The duo ends their illustrious four-year careers with a record of 47-30, including a 13-6 overall mark this season.
Lin ended her year on a 15-match win streak, besting Christina Danosi, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6, while Hai-Li Kong finished her year by taking her 12th straight contest with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph over Sarah Bessen.
Sylvia Li outlasted Suzy Tan, 7-5, 7-5, in fifth singles to account for the Crimson's final victory.
Harvard closes out the year on a three-match win streak to finish third in the Ivy League with a 5-2 mark.
