Womens Tennis Earns Seven Top-Three Finishes at U.S. Air Force Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Harvard
women’s tennis team had yet another successful fall
tournament this past weekend at the U.S. Air Force Invitational.
Everyone who competed on the singles side placed in the top three
of their flight, including two first-place finishes.
Freshmen Hideko Tachibana and Kristin Norton won their flights,
with Tachibana defeating Colorado’s Abbie Probert in the
finals of the Bravo flight and Norton capturing the Delta flight
with a win over Pavlina Smatova of Oregon, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Sophomore Holly Cao finished second in the Alpha flight after
dropping a touch match to Monica Milewski of Colorado, 6-3, 3-6,
6-2. Junior Samantha Rosekrans also finished second in her flight
after Utah’s Missy Harris won in the finals of the Charlie
draw, 6-2, 6-0.
On the doubles side, the duo of Cao and Norton had a successful run
in flight two before bowing out to Smatova and Emmanuelle Cor of
Oregon, 8-5, in the final round.
The Crimson return to the courts Oct. 10 at the USTA Billie Jean
King National Tennis Center Invitational in Flushing, N.Y.
