Gordon Introduced as Assistant Coach of Women’s Tennis

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Former UCLA tennis player Laura Gordon has been named the assistant coach for the Harvard women’s tennis team, head coach Traci Green announced Thursday.

“We are thrilled to have Laura join our staff,” Green said of the hiring. “I know that she will make important contributions on and off the court as the women’s tennis team looks forward to another successful season.”

Prior to joining the Crimson tennis family, Gordon served as an assistant coach for Fresno State University, where she helped the Bulldogs maintain a top 20 ranking throughout the 2009 season.

While playing at UCLA, Gordon was the 2006 recipient of the ITA’s Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award, given to the junior or senior who demonstrated extraordinary commitment and unwavering dedication to her team. As captain of her team in 2006, Gordon was named the West Regional Senior Player of the Year and received All-Pac 10 first-team honors.  Gordon, a dean’s list and two-time honorable mention Academic All-Pac 10 recipient, graduated from UCLA in March 2007.
