|CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard senior Beier Ko was
named as the ITA Senior Player of the Year for the East Region, as
chosen by Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Ko. who was the
unanimous Ivy League Player of the Year, is the second Crimson
women's tennis player to receive the award in the last five years.
Courtney Bergman '05 won the award in her final season with the
Ko's regular season accomplishments have been vast, as she sports 10-5 at No. 1. She was also a unanimous first-team selection in singles and doubles, after going undefeated in both during Ivy play. Her 10 wins this spring season match her previous high set in 2008. A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Ko is currently ranked 99th by the ITA.
Ko was a key cog of Harvard's historic run at the program's 18th Ivy League title, as Harvard finished 6-1 in conference and 13-8 overall, after opening the season 2-5.
She will be the lone Ivy League representative for the NCAA Singles Championship May 20-25 in College Station, Texas. It is her third consecutive trip to the singles championship.
