No. 1 Women’s Squash Narrowly Edges No. 2 Trinity College, 5-4

HARTFORD, Conn. – The top-ranked women's squash team outlasted No. 2 Trinity College to earn a, 5-4, decision Tuesday night. Harvard improves to 10-0 while Trinity suffered its first set back of the season to own an 11-1 mark. 

With the overall score knotted at four, Amanda Sobhy clinched the deciding match when she downed Kanzy El Defrawy in straight sets to remain unbeaten in the No. 1 position for Harvard. The junior standout is now 7-0.

Michelle Gemmell defeated Ashley Tidman 11-5, 11-9, 11-8 in the fifth spot, while Julianne Chu earned her seventh victory of the season with a win over Natalie Babjukova in the sixth position (11-5, 11-9, 11-7).

Rookie Dileas MacGowan continues to lead the Crimson squad in individual wins as she took down Sachika Balvani in the seventh position, while Megan Murray swept her opponent in the No. 9 spot, 11-8, 11-8, 11-2. 

The Crimson return to action Friday, Feb. 7 when Harvard steps back into Ivy League action with a trip to conference rival Yale. The match is slated for 6 p.m.
