CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The reigning national champion Harvard women's squash team has been selected as the No. 1 team in the country in the Dunlop 2012-13 Women's College Squash Preseason Team Rankings.

The Crimson returns three All-Americans from last year's national championship squad that posted an undefeated 17-0 mark to win both the Ivy League and Howe Cup. Individual national champion and Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year Amanda Sobhy returns for her second season in Cambridge and is joined by fellow first team All-American Laura Gemmell, who won the 2010 individual national championship and placed second and third the last two season, and classmate Haley Mendez, who was named a second team All-American in her inaugural collegiate campaign. Senior co-captain Natasha Kingshott is also a former All-American, earning the distinction a sophomore in 2010-11.

Harvard is followed in the polls by archrival Yale, who it defeated in the national title match 8-1 last season to win the Crimson's second Howe Cup in the last three years and 13th overall.

The Crimson opens up its title defense Nov. 16 at the MIT Round-Robin Tournament.
