No. 1 Womens Squash Wins Every Game in 9-0 Victory Over No. 8 Williams

Semifinals
NEW HAVEN, Conn. –The top-ranked Harvard
women’s squash team advanced to the semifinals of the College
Squash Association national women’s championships by
defeating No. 8 Williams, 9-0, Friday afternoon. With the win, the
Crimson improves to 10-0 on the season, while the Ephs drop to
15-7.
Harvard will now face No. 5 Yale in the semifinal round Saturday
at 11:30 a.m. The match against the Bulldogs will be streamed for free by the CSA.
At the top position, Laura Gemmell, who has yet to lose a game
this season, handled Toby Eyre in three straight sets, 11-5, 11-5,
11-6. Nirasha Guruge picked up a similar 3-0 win over Jennifer Coxe
at the No. 2 slot, as Guruge outscored Coxe, 11-4, 11-2, 11-. At
the No. 3 slot, June Tiong outplayed Courtney Bogle, 11-5, 11-0,
11-2.
Harvard also controlled middle positions, led by Alisha Mashruwala
who quickly downed Laura Henry, 11-3, 11-4, 11-5, at the No. 4
spot. Natasha Kingshott, who owns a perfect 10-0 record during her
rookie season, earned back-to-back 11-3 wins in her first two games
against Caroline Henry at the No. 5 slot. Kingshott clinched the
match with an 11-7 victory in the third set.
Co-captains Johanna Snyder and Katherine O’Donnell cruised
to wins in their respective matches. Snyder topped Alli Rubin,
11-3, 11-6, 11-2, at the No. 6 position, while O’Donnell
dismissed Julia Reiser at the No. 8 spot, 11-1, 11-3, 11-3. Harvard
also collected wins by Cece Cortes and Bethan Williams, at the
seventh and ninth positions, respectively. Cortes outscored Kavitha
Mannava, 11-1, 11-5, 11-3, while Williams defeated Carolyn Kaemmer,
11-2, 11-4, 11-3.
