No. 1 Women's Squash Clinches Share of Ivy Title, Doubles Up No. 4 Princeton, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --
The top-ranked Harvard women's squash team concluded the home portion of its schedule by defeating No. 4 Princeton, 6-3, Sunday afternoon at the Barnaby Courts. With the win, the Crimson, which improves to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Ancient Eight, clinches at least a share of the Ivy League title, the first for the program since 2006.

Harvard will look to grab an outright Ivy League championship when the team visits archrival Yale Saturday, Feb. 13.

On Senior Day, senior co-captain Johanna Snyder earned a key victory for Harvard, taking down Nikki Sequeira, 3-0, at the No. 7 position (11-5, 11-6, 12-10). The Crimson also cruised to 3-0 wins at the No. 1 and 2 slots.  Laura Gemmell quickly downed Amanda Siebert at the No. 1 position (11-2, 11-3, 11-7), while Nirasha Guruge toppled Julie Cerullo at the No. 2 spot (11-4, 11-9, 11-8).

At the No. 5 position, Natasha Kingshott played a close match against Neha Kumar, winning the first game, 12-10, but falling in the second, 11-2.  Kingshott claimed the third game, 12-10, before clinching the match, 11-9, in game four.  At the No. 8 spot, Sarah Mumanachit defeated her opponent, Katherine Giovinazzo, 3-1 (11-9, 5-11, 11-8, 11-6).  Harvard also earned a victory at the No. 9 slot, as Bethan Williams handled Casey Cortes, 3-1, after losing the first game (10-12, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7).

With Sunday's win, Harvard concluded its home schedule with a 4-0 record, including a 2-0 mark against Ivy League foes.
