CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard junior Erika Garcia will start camp with the Mexican National Team Jan. 26 at CAR-Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Mexico City. Garcia and Mexico will then travel to Chongqing, China for three friendly matches.
Mexico will take on Korea DPR (Feb. 11), China PR (Feb. 13) and New Zealand (Feb. 15) while in China. A second team All-Ivy League defender, Garcia started all 18 games for the Crimson this season.
The Carson City, Nev., native was one of three Harvard players to start every match and was part of a back line that allowed just 0.81 goals per game to rank second in the conference. Garcia helped Harvard to its 11th Ancient Eight crown, the first for Harvard since 2011 and its first 7-0-0 Ivy campaign since 1999.
