Urke Honored as Ivy League Rookie of the Week for Second Time

Lauren Urke has two goals and two assists on the season (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Lauren Urke of the Harvard women’s soccer team has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Columbia Saturday.

Urke, a midfielder from Medina, Minn., scored the game’s only goal at 20:34, finding the back of the net off a pass from classmate Meg Casscells-Hamby. Urke, who was tabbed Ivy Co-Rookie of the Week Sept. 12, has amassed six points on two goals and two assists during her freshman campaign.

With the win at Columbia, Harvard clinched the Ivy League title outright, the program’s 10th conference crown. Harvard enters the NCAA tournament 12-4-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the Ancient Eight.
