CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Lizzy Nichols, a co-captain of
the Harvard women's soccer team, has been honored on the National
Soccer Coaches Assocation of America Scholar All-East Region second
team, the NSCAA recently announced.
Nichols, a defender from Princeton, N.J., was one of 10 finalists
for the prestigious Lowe's Senior CLASS Award this season, which
honors a student-athlete's character, as well as
success in the classroom, community and on the playing
field. Nichols was also recently selected as a semifinalist
for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, which is given to a
collegiate and a professional athlete who have made the greatest
positive influence in the lives of others.
A three-time Academic All-Ivy League choice, Nichols also garnered
a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team for the
second straight season this fall. She started 16 games this
season and scored two goals, including the game-winning tally
against Penn on a penalty kick Sept. 26. Nichols was the
leader of the Crimson defender and received her fourth nod to the
All-Ivy League team, grabbing a selection to the second team this
season.
She was also tabbed to the NEWISA All-New England second team and
was selected to compete at the NEWISA Senior Bowl earlier this
month.
