CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard freshman
forward Caroline Albanese earned the first Ivy League Rookie of the
Week honor this season, the conference office announced Tuesday
afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Mann also earned recognition,
as she was tabbed to the weekly conference honor roll.
A native of Westfield, N.J., Albanese gave Harvard a 1-0 lead on
her first collegiate goal in the Crimson’s season opener
Friday against San Diego State. At the 46:41 mark, Albanese
accepted a pass from teammate Katherine Sheeleigh and dribbled up
the right side before shooting the ball into the right side of the
net.
Mann, who hails from Encinitas, Calif., has started both games for
Harvard (0-1-1) this fall and owns a 1.80 goals-against average.
She stopped four shots in 110 minutes against San Diego State, as
the Crimson and Aztecs played to a draw after two overtimes. Two
days later, Mann recorded seven saves in a road contest at
Connecticut.
Albanese, Mann and the Crimson are back in action Tuesday, as
Harvard hosts New Hampshire at Ohiri Field at 3 p.m.
