Nichols Invited to Team USA Under-23 National Team Camp
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Harvard junior defender Lizzy Nichols has been invited to the U.S. Under-23 National Team camp in Portland, Ore. in April. As part of the camp, Team USA will face Portland in an exhibition at Merlo Field Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m.
U.S. U-23 Women's National Team head coach Bill Irwin will bring
a full squad to Portland as the team is preparing for possible
games in Europe this upcoming summer.
Nichols, an All-Ivy League honoree in all three of her seasons at
Harvard, will serve as a co-captain of the Crimson in 2009.
An ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team honoree a year ago
and a two-time Academic All-Ivy choice, Nichols tallied two goals
as a junior, including the game winner on a penalty kick at 109:51
in Harvard's 2-1 victory over Columbia Nov. 8. The win
clinched the Ivy League title for the Crimson, the program's first
since 1999.
A native of Princeton, N.J., Nichols participated in the U.S.
Under-20 National Camp in April 2008.
