Harvard to Begin National Search for Rugby Coach

Harvard's Mignone Field (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sue Parker, the head coach for Harvard women’s rugby, will not be returning for the 2017-18 season.

Parker, the first head coach for women’s rugby, won the Ivy 7s Tournament for the second-straight year this spring, defeating Dartmouth in the title game. She guided the Crimson to a second-place finish at the Ivy 15s Tournament in the fall, returning the Crimson to the conference championship game for the first time since winning the Ancient Eight title in 2013.

Parker recently completed her fourth season as head coach of the Crimson, and Harvard posted an overall record of 50-45-1 during her tenure in Cambridge.  Prior to coming to Harvard, Parker coached rugby at the U.S. Naval Academy.

A national search for a successor will be conducted.
