Harvard looks to defend its Ivy Rugby Tournament title in
2014 (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Commencing its second season of varsity play this fall, the Harvard women’s rugby team posted its 2014 fall schedule Wednesday. The Crimson will host three home contests in the fall and face five Ivy League squads before tournament play begins.
It will be a battle of the two Ivy varsity programs to start the season, as the Crimson hosts Brown Sept. 13 in an 11 a.m., contest. The Bears became the second Ivy women’s rugby team to elevate to varsity status, announcing the move in April and becoming Brown’s 38th varsity sport. Harvard’s first road contest is a week later at Yale and Cornell comes to Cambridge Sept. 27. Princeton will host Harvard the following weekend and the Crimson wraps up its regular season with a showdown against Dartmouth on its home turf.
The Ivy Rugby Championship will take place Nov. 1-2, and the Crimson will look to defend it first ever title at the event. The fall slate wraps up with the ACRA tournament, which begins the weekend of Nov. 15-16 and concludes with the final four Dec. 6-7.
