Women's Rugby Announces Spring Slate

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Head coach Sue Parker has announced the Harvard women's rugby team's spring schedule Wednesday afternoon. Five matches against first-time opponents await the Crimson during the 2014 spring slate, including four in Cambridge.
The 2014 season gets underway Saturday, March 1 when the Crimson welcomes West Chester to Cumnock Field in Cambridge. The following weekend, Harvard will host American International College Saturday, March 8 before facing off with neighboring Boston College Tuesday, March 29. The Crimson will then travel to State College, Pa., to take on the Nittany Lions Saturday, April 5, for its only road competition of the spring. Harvard will finish out its home slate against Beantown Rugby Thursday, April 17.
The final event of the spring will be the National Championship rounds of 16 and 8, beginning April 25 and concluding two days later, with the possibility of advancing to the semifinals and finals, running May 9-10.
In its first year as a varsity program, Harvard ended the fall season with an overall record of 5-2, along with a 5-1 record in Ivy League play, with the lone loss coming against Dartmouth. The Crimson entered the first Ivy League rugby tournament as the second-seed and downed Brown, 31-5 to advance to the finals. In the finals, Harvard shutout top-seed Dartmouth, 29-0.
