CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Steven Keith has joined classmate Walter Peppelman in the top 10 of the InterMatWrestling.com individual rankings, moving up eight places to No. 10 at 133 lbs. Peppelman, meanwhile, has dropped one place to the eighth position at 157 lbs.
Keith made an impressive run at the 2012 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational over the weekend and placed third after entering the tournament as the eighth seed. Keith picked up victories over four seeded wrestlers, including a 5-4 decision over Stanford’s Ryan Mango, currently ranked 11th, and a 6-0 decision in the third-place match over Michigan’s Zachery Stevens, currently ranked 12th. The junior went 6-1 overall at the tournament to improve to 13-3 with three major decisions and one fall.
Peppelman failed to place in Las Vegas after an injury forced him to withdraw early. Peppelman, who was seeded second in the tournament, posted two wins before withdrawing to improve his overall record to 9-3 on the year with four bonus point victories. The junior boasts a career record of 72-29 while his 18 career pins rank seventh in program history.
