CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard wrestling team lost two tough duals Saturday at home to Brown, 24-17, and Hofstra, 39-8. Team co-captains Andrew Knapp and Walter Peppelman won both of their matches on the day.
Steven Keith started the Crimson off with a 5-2 decision at 125 pounds before the Bears won the next three matches to take a 14-3 lead in the team race. Peppelman earned bonus points at 157 with a 19-4 victory over his Bears opponent. Brown won the next two matches before the Crimson took the final three weight classes. Cameron Croy at 184 pounds and Knapp at heavyweight won by a score of 6-1, while Bryan Panzano picked up a 5-1 decision at 197 pounds.
Peppelman earned an 18-0 technical fall over Hofstra's Matt Spataro and Knapp picked up a 3-1 decision in sudden victory against Paul Snyder to score points for the Crimson.
Harvard closes out its dual portion of the season next weekend when Columbia and Cornell come to town. The Crimson meets the Lions Friday at 7 p.m. and the Big Red Saturday at 1 p.m.
