Wrestling Competes Aginst Tough Competition at Lone Star Duals

ARLINGTON, Texas – Walter Peppelman picked up three wins at the Lone Star Duals Saturday afternoon including a win over a top-six wrestler to lead the Harvard wrestling team.
The Crimson lost a close match to Appalachian State, 22-17, before falling to No. 7 Oklahoma, 33-8, and Stanford, 35-10.
Peppelman won all three bouts by bonus points, outscoring his opponents, 42-0, to his three matches. The 11th-ranked wrestler biggest win of the day came against sixth-ranked Chase Nelson of Oklahoma. Peppelman dominated the Sooner wrestler in a 17-0 shutout.
Freshman Ian Roy picked up two wins on the afternoon at 174 pounds, defeating Carter Downs of Appalachian State, 4-3 and Oklahoma's Jeff James, 4-2.
Steven Keith (125), Shay Warren (133) and Andrew Knapp (285) all earned wins in one of the three matches.
Harvard takes a short break from competition next week and returns to action Jan. 29 at Army.
