Three Harvard wrestlers are ranked in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Preseason poll released Tuesday morning. Junior Corey Jantzen and sophomores Steven Keith and Walter Peppelman are among the top four in their respective weight classes.
Keith, an NCAA qualifier a season ago, is third at 125 pounds. He compiled a 20-12 record last season and finished third at the EIWA Championships.
Jantzen is ranked third in the EIWA and 12th in the nation at 149 pounds. Jantzen returns to Cambridge after taking last year off. In his first two seasons with the Crimson, he placed at the EIWA Championships twice at 141 pounds and qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Peppelman, who missed the majority of last season due to injury, is fourth at 157 pounds. A team captain this winter, he posted a 21-12 record at 149 pounds as a rookie. Peppelman went five matches without allowing a point and recorded four technical falls (68-0) and one fall (in nine seconds) during that stretch.
The coaches vote on the preseason rankings. Freshmen are eligible for rankings in December.
