ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior co-captains Louis
Caputo and J.P. O’Connor extended their wins streaks to lead
the Harvard wrestling team in a 44-6 loss to No. 6 Cornell.
Top-ranked O’Connor won his 26th straight match of the season to remain unbeaten at 157 pounds. He defeated Derek Schreiner, 7-2, to close out the dual season with a 15-0 dual record. O’Connor scored two takedowns in the first period and used a second period reversal to take a 6-1. The Oxford, N.Y., native added riding time in the third after Schreiner managed to second in the second.
Caputo earned his 12th straight victory and 17th of the season with a 5-0 victory over No. 16 Steve Bosak at 184 pounds. After a scoreless first period, Caputo chose bottom in the second and scored on a reversal. Bosak picked the neutral position to start the third and was taken down 40 seconds into the period.
Harvard has a week off before heading to Lehigh for the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships.
