Seniors recognized before the match
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior co-captain J.P
O’Connor and freshman Steven Keith earned bonus points wins
in Harvard’s loss to No. 7 Lehigh, 37-11, Sunday at the
Malkin Athletic Center. Senior co-captain Louis Caputo picked up an
important win over nationally ranked David Craig.
Freshman Steven Keith started the Crimson off with a 13-0 major
decision over Mitch Berger at 125 pounds. Keith scored early in the
match and controlled the tempo en route to his 14th win over
season.
O’Connor earned his 24th win of the season with a 16-5 major
decision over Brian Tanen. The top-ranked wrestler at 157 pounds is
unbeaten on the season and has 13 win s by bonus points.
Fifth-ranked Caputo defeated No. 15 David Craig, 6-0, to improve
to 17-2 on the season. All of the scoring came from back points in
the second period. It was Caputo’s first win over Craig in
three years.
Caputo and O’Connor were recognized prior to the start of
today’s match, their final at the Malkin Athletics Center,
with a standing ovation from the crowd of more than 800 fans.
Harvard closes out its dual season at Columbia and Cornell Friday
and Saturday respectively.
