The Harvard women’s lacrosse team was named a 2009 IWLCA Academic Squad, while Sarah Bancroft ’09 and Shannon Flynn ’09 were recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association for excellence in the classroom.

Seniors Sara Flood and Delia Pais will serve as the 2010 women’s lacrosse captains. The duo was elected by their teammates at the conclusion of last season.

An up-and-down season ended with a pair of wins as the Harvard women’s lacrosse team competed against seven ranked teams during the 2009 season. The Crimson finished the campaign with a 6-10 overall record, including 2-5 in the Ivy League for a sixth-place finish in the Ancient Eight.

Freshman Katie Doherty scored with one second left in the game to give the Harvard women’s lacrosse team a 9-8 win over Boston College Thursday afternoon in the season finale for both teams.
April 25, 2009 Halpern and Crimson Knock Off No. 20 Cornell
Sophomore Jess Halpern scored four goals and added an assist as the Harvard women’s lacrosse team turned a one-point halftime lead into a 11-7 victory over No. 20 Cornell Saturday afternoon. The Crimson defense and goalie Katherine Martino shut out the Big Red defense in the second half, holding them without a goal.
April 18, 2009 Late Columbia Goal Gives Lions 11-10 Win Over Crimson
Gabriel Geronimos scored her third goal of the game with 39.9 second left on the clock to give Columbia an 11-10 win over Harvard Saturday afternoon at Harvard Stadium.
April 15, 2009 Crimson Falls To Dartmouth in Midweek Tilt
The Harvard women’s lacrosse team scored three goals in the final three minutes of play, but a seven-goal cushion in the first half by the Big Green allowed No. 13 Dartmouth to maintain its lead and earn a 13-6 win Wednesday afternoon.
April 5, 2009 Second Half Rally Closes the Gap Against No. 9 Virginia
Sophomore Jess Halpern scored four of Harvard’s six goals in the second half to close the gap against No. 9 Virginia, but the Cavaliers used a first half cushion to prevail, 13-9, Sunday afternoon at Harvard Stadium.
