Hennessey Named Ivy Offensive Player of the Week
Harvard will face Cornell Saturday, March 1 at the Soldiers Field Lacrosse Stadium (Ted Keating).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After scoring six goals and handing out three assists in the season-opening weekend, freshman attacker Megan Hennessey of the Harvard women's lacrosse team has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.
Hennessey, who hails from Winchester, Mass., helped the Crimson go 1-1 last weekend. In Harvard's 18-7 win over Saint Mary's Sunday, Hennessey tallied five goals and added an assist for a six-point effort. Hennessey also had four draw controls, collected three ground balls and caused three turnovers against the Gaels.
A day earlier, the Harvard rookie dished out two assists and scored once, while adding three draw controls and collecting two ground balls in a 14-10 loss to No. 14 Stanford.
Hennessey and the Crimson will host Cornell in Harvard's home opener Saturday, March 1. The game, which will be played at the Soldiers Field Lacrosse Stadium, is set to begin at 1 p.m.
