Baskind and Petropulos Earn IWLCA Academic Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women’s
lacrosse players Melanie Baskind and Tyler Petropulos were honored
by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association
on Tuesday, with their inclusion on the 2011 Academic Honor Roll.
Listed on the IWCLA’s honor roll are 187 student-athletes,
with 65 different institutions being recognized.
Baskind, a senior captain for both Harvard women’s soccer and
lacrosse, was third on the team in points last season with 34
(28-6). She also led the team in groundballs (16) to go along with
six caused turnovers. The Framingham, Mass. native was previously
recognized by the IWCLA earning her second All-Region selection as
well as being named first-team All-Ivy.
Petropulos served as co-captain with Baskind last season recording 14 goals and three assists for 17 points as she was fifth on the team in scoring. The Amherst, N.H. native was also fifth on the team in groundballs (20) and caused turnovers (10).
Harvard women’s lacrosse finished 10-6 overall in 2011, securing a conference record of 5-2. The Crimson advanced all the way to the Ivy Championship game but fell to rival Princeton 12-10 in Philadelphia, Pa.
