Harvard In The Olympics

Nine Harvard players have represented either Canada or the United States at the Olympics since women's hockey was introduced at the 18th Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

Angela Ruggiero '02-04, Sandra Whyte '92 and A.J. Mleczko '97-99 were members of the U.S. team that captured Gold at the 1998 Olympics. Canadian Jennifer Botterill '02-03 won a silver medal the same year and added a gold medal in 2002. Helping her win Gold in Salt Lake City was Tammy Shewchuk '00-01. Botterill and Shewchuk earned their medals by defeating a Team USA squad that featured Ruggiero, Mleczko and Julie Chu '06-07.

Most recently, Botterill and Sarah Vaillancourt '08-09 earned Gold with Team Canada in the Torino Games of 2006. Ruggiero and Chu were joined on the 2006 U.S. squad by Jamie Hagerman '03 and Caitlin Cahow '07-08. Team USA won the bronze medal at the 2006 games.
