CALGARY, Alta. – Harvard women's hockey former standout Jillian Dempsey '13 was chosen No. 10 overall in the Canadian Women's Hockey League held on Monday, Aug. 26 in Mississauga, ON, Canada. Dempsey was chosen in the second round by the Boston Blades.
A three-time team MVP, Dempsey secured her spot as one of the best players in Harvard history with an outstanding season in 2012-13. The senior co-captain paced the Crimson with 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points. The Winthrop, Mass., native scored in each of the Crimson's first 16 games to produce a 30-game point streak dating back to 2011-12, the longest run in the nation at the time. Dempsey finished her career ninth on Harvard's all-time scoring list, was a first team All-Ivy League and All-ECAC Hockey selection.
Boston won the Clarkson Cup last season, defeating the two-time defending champion Montreal Stars.
