Septet Set to Boost Women’s Hockey Roster in 2012-13

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women’s hockey team will add seven freshmen to its roster for the 2012-13 season, the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women’s Ice Hockey Katey Stone announced Thursday. The group of freshmen hails from four different U.S. states and two Canadian provinces.  

“We are very excited about this year’s incoming freshman class,” said Stone. “They bring energy, ability and strong promise for the future of Harvard hockey.”

Harvard racked up its 10th 20-win season under Stone in 2011-12, compiling a 22-9-1 overall record to go along with a 17-4-1 conference mark. The Crimson was ranked as high as seventh in the national polls during the regular season and had 10 players record at least 20 points in the campaign that saw it reach the ECAC tournament semifinal. Harvard graduates just one senior from the 2011-12 squad and returns its top 13 scorers.

Dylanne Crugnale, Forward, 5-8, Laguna Niguel, Calif./North American Hockey Academy
Member of the hockey teams at Dana Hills High School and North American Hockey Academy ... Captained her club team, Anaheim Lady Ducks, for three years and led team to 2012 JWHL Championship ... Received Most Valuable Player award at Nike Bauer Tournament in 2010 ... Awarded North American Hockey Academy Academic Achievement Award in 2012 ... Valedictorian of her graduating class and honor-roll student all four years of high school ... AP Scholar from 2010-12 ... Also lettered in soccer for two years in high school .

Miye D’Oench, Forward, 5-4, New York, N.Y./Saint Ann’s School
Played hockey with club team, New Jersey Rockets U19, and captained the team for two seasons ... Also captained Mid Fairfield Stars from 2008-09 ... Member of the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team and earned a silver medal with the team at 2012 World Championships ... Four-year participant at USA Hockey National Development Camp and named to All-Star team in 2009 and 2011 ... Earned a Scholastic Silver Key Writing Award in 2010 ... Also an AP Scholar with Honor and a National Merit Commended Student ... Honorable mention at Princeton and Penn Model Congress in 2010 and 2011 ... Has a black belt in Seido Karate and enjoys skiing.

Abigail Harris, Defense, 5-5, Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green
Played for two club teams, Ohio Flames AAA Hockey (2008-11) and Little Caesars AAA Hockey (2012), in the Women’s Elite Hockey League ...  Assistant captain of Ohio Flames ... 2009 Justine Pellman Award nominee ... Lettered all four years at Bowling Green High School in track ... Won the Scholar Athlete Award Northern Lakes League in track three years in a row ... A 4.0 Honor student all four years of high school ... National Honor Society member in 2011 and 2012.

Jessica Harvey, Forward, 5-9, Norfolk, N.Y./Norwood-Norfolk Central
Played four years of varsity hockey at Norwood-Norfolk Central School ... Earned the Hockey Sportsmanship Award in 2010 ... Played five years of varsity softball, four years of varsity soccer, and one year of basketball and cross country at Norwood-Norfolk Central School ... Captained soccer team as a senior ... In softball, earned second team All-NAC honors in 2008 and 2009, first team All-NAC in 2010-12 and Times All-North second team in 2011 ... In soccer, named first-team All-NAC and fifth-team all-state in 2011 ... Awarded Academic All-NAC 2009-12 ... PE Leadership award recipient in 2012.

Emerance Maschmeyer, Goalie, 5-6, Bruderheim, Alta./Lloydminster Comprehensive
Played on the varsity hockey team as a goaltender at John Paul II High School ... Member of the Bantam AA All-Star team and Bantam AAA All-Star team ... Won gold medals at the Alberta Winter Games and Canada Winter Games ... Captured a gold medal as part of Team Canada in IIHF U18 tournament in 2012.
