Jillian Dempsey of the Harvard women's hockey team earned her fifth ECAC Hockey award of the season by being named the player of the week, the league announced today. This is Dempsey's third ECAC Player of the Week award this season to go along with two ECAC Player of the Month nods.

The Winthrop, Mass., native started last weekend with one of the best games of her career at Union Jan. 4. Dempsey totaled five points, including two goals and three assists, to tie a career high and propel the Crimson to a 9-0 win over the Dutchwomen. Four of her points came in the second period in which Harvard scored five times, its highest scoring period of the season.

Dempsey added another assist the next day to put Harvard on the board at Rensselaer. The senior found Kalley Armstrong in front of the net to give the Crimson a 1-0 lead in an eventual 2-1 victory and extend Dempsey's career long point streak to 27 games. The six-point weekend moved Dempsey up to No. 2 in the nation in goals scored per game (1.23) and No. 3 in points per game (2.38). She also leads the conference in points (23) and goals (10), while ranking second in assists (13) during league play.

The co-captain's consistent play this season has the Crimson in first place in the ECAC with an undefeated 9-0-0 mark against conference foes. Harvard has moved up to No. 2 in both polls, trailing only Minnesota (20-0-0), for the first time since 2008.
