Laura Bellamy hasn't allowed a goal in her last 11 periods (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior assistant captain Laura Bellamy of the Harvard women's hockey team has been named ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The honor is Bellamy's second of the season and third of her career.
The Duluth, Minn., native was an integral part of Harvard's weekend sweep of Ivy League foes Yale and Brown. Against the Bulldogs, Bellamy needed just nine saves to notch her fourth shutout of the season. The following afternoon in Providence, R.I., Bellamy was tested 18 times and was up for the challenge, leading Harvard to a 3-0 win and its third straight shutout.
Bellamy enters the 2012 Women's Beanpot riding an 11-period shutout streak, the longest of her career. It also marks the first time a Harvard goalie had recorded three-straight clean sheets since Christina Kessler '10 did it in the 2007-08 campaign. Bellamy has now posted four shutouts in her last five league victories.
