Women's Hockey Earns No. 4 Seed in NCAA Tournament, Will Host Cornell in Quarterfinals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women’s hockey
team has earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament and
will host Cornell in a quarterfinal matchup. The game will be held
at Bright Hockey Center Friday, March 12 at 7 p.m.
Harvard, which is making its eighth appearance in the NCAA
postseason, enters the tournament with a 20-7-5 overall record
after advancing to the ECAC Hockey semifinals. The Crimson placed
third in the ECAC Hockey standings in the regular season, going
13-6-3 in conference play.
During the year, Harvard boasted a 14-3-3 record on home ice,
winning its ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series in two games against
Princeton and claiming the 13th Beanpot title in program history at
Bright Hockey Center.
Cornell, which owned a 1-0-1 record against the Crimson, won the
ECAC Hockey tournament and regular-season titles and heads into the
NCAA postseason with a 19-8-6 overall mark. The Big Red topped the
Crimson, 4-3, in Ithaca, N.Y., Oct. 31 and tied Harvard, 4-4, at
Bright Hockey Center Jan. 15.
The winner of the game between Harvard and Cornell will face
either top-seeded Mercyhurst (29-2-3) or Boston University
(17-8-12) in the NCAA Frozen Four in Minneapolis, Minn., Friday,
March 19.
