In its second year with varsity status, the women’s golf team was often unable to compete as a team in tournaments because they did not have the required four golfers to constitute a team. Instead, the golfers competed as individuals.
In the fall of 2002 the team won the Mt. Holyoke Invitational, their first tournament victory over a field of more than 10 teams. Since then the team has seen consistent improvement, winning more and more tournaments each year against serious competitors.
In the spring of 2008, the women’s golf team won an Ivy League title for the first time and advanced to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament. That Ivy Championship also marked the team’s lowest single round tournament score to date (288). Harvard also captured the Ivy crown in 2009 and again in 2012.
