Anne Cheng was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year (Bruce Waterfield).
TULSA, Okla. – After helping the Harvard women's golf team post its highest team finish in school history at the NCAA Regionals, freshman Anne Cheng has been named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Central Region team.
Cheng, who was one of 33 golfers from across the country to earn all-region honors, finished 10th as an individual at the NCAA Central Regional, hosted at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla. Harvard placed 13th as a team and was only nine strokes away from finishing in the top 8, which would have clinched a berth at the NCAA Championships.
A native of Torrance, Calif., Cheng was tabbed the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and garnered All-Ivy first team honors after winning the individual conference title, shooting 70-72-75-217 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. Earlier in the season, Cheng also captured the individual crown at the Harvard Invitational (71-72-143) at The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Mass.
