CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Radcliffe head coach Lou Berl has been named the 2014 Lightweight Coach of the Year, as seniors Erin Driscoll, Elizabeth Lenczowski and Katherine Mallett earned Pocock All-American honors.
Berl, completing her first year as the head lightweight coach at Radcliffe, led the varsity eight to its first IRA National Championship title since 1997 and seventh overall in program history.
Driscoll (coxswain), Lenczowski (two seat) and Mallett (three seat) led one of the best comebacks in the history of the event, as the Black and White was down seven seats with just 500 meters to race. An incredible sprint led Radcliffe to the title, finishing under one second ahead of Stanford and third-place finisher Bucknell.
