CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Radcliffe lightweight crew rowed with some of the top heavyweight crews in the Northeast at the Foot of the Charles regatta Saturday afternoon. The Black and White competed in all three events of the regatta and topped its lightweight competition in two of the races.
Radcliffe started the day with three impressive performances in the varsity fours event. The Black and White finished in 12th, 15th and 20th place out of 42 participating crews. Radcliffe had the three highest placing lightweight boats with times of 14:33.5, 14:47.9 and 15:02.2. Twenty-seven heavyweight crews were behind the Black and White's best fours boat, as well as three lightweight crews.
In the eights events, Radcliffe's novices finished 11th and the third varsity placed sixth in the respective races. The novices rowed the route in 15:44.0, while the third varsity clocked in at 14:20. Each of the Black and White's two eights boats were quicker than five heavyweight crews and all but one of the lightweight boats they rowed against.
Radcliffe concluded its fall season with the Foot of the Charles and will continue training through the winter months before the spring season begins in April.
