Fisher Named Assistant Coach of Lightweight Crew

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Head coach of lightweight crew Michiel Bartman has announced the hiring of Lauren Fisher as an assistant coach. Fisher comes to Cambridge from Ithaca, N.Y., where she spent two years as an intern and assistant women's rowing coach with her alma mater, Cornell.

As an intern, Fisher guided the third varsity eight to a fifth-place finish at the 2011 Women's Eastern Sprints, earning her a promotion to assistant coach for the 2011-12 season. At the 2012 Ivy League Championships, she coached the third varsity to a third-place medal, while the fourth varsity claimed fifth in the third varsity event.

During her term as head coach of the Niskayuna Rowing Club in 2011, the U17 men's team took fifth in the Canadian Henley Regatta Final. She previously served as the youth rowing coach and varsity girls head coach at the club.

In 2010, Fisher assumed the role as the varsity girls coach at the Cascadilla Boat Club, where she initiated a summer competitive sculling program with the head coach.

Fisher was a varsity letter winner for the Cornell women's rowing team. She was part of the varsity eight from 2007-09, and rowed with the second varsity eight in 2009-10. Fisher and the second varsity eight placed fifth at the 2010 Women's Eastern Sprints.

As a member of the Niskayuna Rowing Club, Fisher received the Top Bolt Award in the fall of 2005 and the Nan Kuntz Award in the spring of 2006 for being the most valuable rower on the team.
