Radcliffe Lightweights Bates, Wong Earn All-America Honors
Seniors Lizzy Bates and Natalie Wong of the Radcliffe
lightweight crew have been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches
Association 2011 Pocock Lightweight All-America Team.
Bates, a native of Tenants Harbor, Maine, and Wong, a team
co-captain from Oakland, Calif., were selected to the team based on
outstanding performance during the 2011 season.
Both rowers were four-year members of the Black and White
varsity eight. In their final season, they helped Radcliffe post a
6-2 dual record, earn a bronze medal at Eastern Sprints and place
fourth at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National
Championships.
Coming off a bronze-medal performance at last season’s
Sprints, Bates and Wong helped the Black and White capture the
Class of 2004 Cup and Muri Cup with wins over Georgetown and MIT,
respectively. Radcliffe also defeated Tulsa, Buffalo and Bucknell
during the 2011 dual season.
