No. 4 Radcliffe Lights Down No. 5 Bucknell, Fall to No. 3 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J.—The fourth-ranked Radcliffe lightweight varsity eight defeated No. 5 Bucknell and lost to No. 3 Princeton while the novice eight dominated the Tigers at the Class of 1999 Cup regatta Saturday morning on Lake Carnegie.
The Radcliffe varsity eight finished 14 seconds before Bucknell, last season's runner-up in the IRA National Championships. The Black and White second varsity eight raced against the top boats from the other schools and placed fourth.
The novices cruised to a 34.3-second victory against the Tigers. The Radcliffe varsity four placed third against two schools that did not field a second varsity eight. The Black and White posted a time of 8:52.5, about nine seconds behind Bucknell.
