Liz O’Leary Named New England Coach of the Year
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Radcliffe heavyweight
crew head coach Liz O’Leary is the 2012 New England Regional
Coach of the Year, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association has
announced.
O’Leary, in her 26th season, led the Black and White to the
league title in the inaugural Ivy League Championship regatta. The
Black and White added a varsity four gold medal, giving the team
wins in two of the three NCAA-level events. Radcliffe, ranked
seventh nationally, earned its 14th bid to the NCAA Division I
Rowing Championships in the 16-year history of the event.
The Radcliffe varsity eight earlier won the Beanpot and
O’Leary Cup races and totaled nine dual wins. The Black and
White also claimed the Beanpot team banner over local rivals Boston
College, Boston University, MIT and Northeastern.
O’Leary was also honored as New England Coach of the Year in
2009 and was the CRCA National Coach of the Year in 2003, when
Radcliffe won the NCAA varsity and team championships.
