The Radcliffe novice crews put on a dominant showing to win the Green Monster regatta Saturday on the Connecticut River in New Hampshire.
The Black and White heavyweight B and A crews took first and second, respectively, to easily claim the team championship for combined time. The Radcliffe heavyweight B squad won in 19:11.8, less than three seconds ahead of Radcliffe A. Their combined time was 53.6 seconds faster than runner-up Dartmouth, which had the third- and fourth-place individual boats.
The Radcliffe lightweight novices were also impressive in their first action of the fall. They placed fifth, ahead of the MIT lightweights and heavyweight crews from Massachusetts, MIT and Vermont. The Black and White lights crossed the finish line in 20:21.3.
It was the second win in three years for the Black and White at the Green Monster. Radcliffe won the event in 2007 and finished second to MIT a year ago. The crews close the fall season at home next weekend in the Foot of the Charles.
