Harvard head womens basketball coach, Kathy Delaney-Smith is going from the hardwood to big screen. The 27-year veteran of college basketball is the subject of an 18-minute documentary titled ACT AS IF that will be featured at the Boston International Film Festival April 20.
March 20, 2009 Markley and Matera Lead Crimson in 83-60 Loss to St. John's
The Harvard womens basketball team held tough in the first 20 minutes of play, but a 62 percent shooting performance from the Red Storm in the second half allowed St. Johns to pull away en route to an 83-60 win in the first round of the Womens NIT Friday night at Carnesseca Arena.
March 16, 2009 Crimson Draws St. John's in First Women's NIT Appearance
The Harvard womens basketball team will meet St. Johns on Friday, March 20 in its first Womens National Invitational Tournament (NIT) appearance in school history. The Crimson sports a 19-9 overall record after an 11-3 mark in Ivy League play. Harvard enters the Womens NIT having won six of its last seven games.
March 12, 2009 Berry Named Rookie of the Year: Three Crimson Players Named All-Ivy
Three Harvard womens basketball players have been named to the All-Ivy League teams. Senior co-captain Emily Tay was named unanimous first-team All-Ivy League, freshman Brogan Berry was named unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year and received honorable mention honors, while sophomore Emma Markley was named second-team All-Ivy.
March 10, 2009 Crimson Falls to Dartmouth; Headed to WNIT
The Harvard womens basketball team fell to Dartmouth, 64-51, in the Ivy League finale Tuesday night at a packed Leede Arena. The Crimson battled its rival for 40 minutes but came up short as the Big Green pulled away late in the second half.
March 9, 2009 Tay Tabbed as Player of the Week For Second Straight Week
Senior co-captain Emily Tay was named the Ivy League Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday morning after an outstanding weekend at home. This is Tay's second-straight award and third of the season. She averaged 24.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds and shot 71 percent from the field in a pair of wins for the Crimson.
March 7, 2009 Markley Named WBCA Honorable Mention Player of the Month
Sophomore Emma Markley was named WBCA Division I National Player of the Month Honorable Mention for February. Markley averaged 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game in eight games for the Crimson last month.
